Data scientist vs. data analyst? What's the difference? How will you know which career path is right for you?
So very simply, a data analystβs job is to look through data to see trends and communicate what stories the numbers are telling. A data scientist both interprets and figures out ways to model the data. Data analysts more likely use off-the-shelf tools while data scientists sometimes build their own tools. So if youβre interested in our Data Science Fellowship, you might already have a background in programming, statistics, or a STEM-related field. Be prepared to learn how to code. But if youβre new to working with numbers, data analytics is more your jam. No coding is involved and you start with the Business Intelligence program we offer.

In case you missed it: Watch our Women in Data Facebook livestream π©βπ»
Fact: Only 15% of data scientists are women. Yes, let that sink in. π€―π
Whatβs preventing more women from joining the field of data science? Taking a data-driven approach ourselves towards this conversation, we use results from the BCG study of STEM students on what drives their decision to pursue (or not to pursue) a career related to data science so we can examine what can be done to encourage more women into the field. Carla Mumar will host this conversation between Kathleen who is a FTW Scholar and the She Loves Data Manila Chapter Lead, and Julia, who is an Eskwelabs Data Science Fellow and MSDS Candidate at AIM.
