Hi, Francine here! π In the Philippines, March holds a lot of meaning. It tells us that summer is near. And for schools who don't follow an international calendar yet, it's usually graduation month for students all over the country. For our Eskwelabs community in particular, March is a month of decision-making. Today's newsletter issue compiles opportunities for aspiring Eskwelabs learners, committed Eskwelabs community members, and potential Eskwelabs teammates to make decisions that will have a positive impact on their future and of those around them. π
What's in this newsletter:
π Choose your Data Club sprint project
π Find out if the data science or data analytics path is for you
π‘ Reflect on the future of the data jobs industry in the Philippines
β‘ Opportunities to join the Eskwelabs Team
π€ Decisions for Data Club members
"What data project do I want to make this March?" π
The Data Club is a hands-on lab experience where you can learn data skills by making fun data projects with other data enthusiasts. This March, we have two active sprints that you can choose from! Youβve got a data project for FRIENDS and The Office fans and a data project for those who want to get lit with Streamlit.
πΊ Network Analysis of TV Sitcoms
Using a dataset of character lines, can we uncover hidden interaction patterns in our favorite sitcoms? We used the techniques of network science to create interactive visualizations that show the complex social narrative structures that may shed light on how these sitcoms became so popular. π€©
π₯ Be Lit with Streamlit
Insights are useless if they are not shared to others. Learn how to extract information from data and develop it into a compelling narrative. In this sprint, you will not only learn how to effectively convert your findings to interesting stories but also how to present it to your peers in a web app. π
This data sprint is perfect for those who have ideas on passion projects they wish to explore but do not know how to best communicate their results. This is also for aspiring data analysts or scientists who want a captivating data exploratory portfolio entry.
