E is for Eskwelabs Issue 033 - Teamwork Makes the Dream Work 💪💭
In our thirty-third issue, we’re focusing on the popular saying, “Teamwork makes the dreamwork!” We're approaching this theme from various aspects of what it means to be part of the Eskwelabs team.
We created this newsletter to keep our alums, partners, and anyone interested in learning skills for the future of work updated and connected to our ever-growing family. If you want to read our previous issues, you can check them out here.
Hi, Francine here! 👋 I had a lot of fun writing this issue, mainly because I got to celebrate my teammates. Today, we’re focusing on the popular saying, “Teamwork makes the dreamwork!” And there are several ways we’re approaching this theme. We’re welcoming new team members, sharing stories about what it’s like working in Eskwelabs, giving a sneak peek at the playful craziness behind the scenes, and compiling a curated link list that shows we are truly a group of lifelong learners obsessed with reading and learning. As you read, I hope you feel the joy and love I felt while writing this issue. ❤️
What's in this newsletter:
💖 Hi Mel and Juvien! Hooray for new team members (Plus: We’re sharing more open positions!)
👋 Personal and candid internship stories from our beloved Eskwelabs interns
🎊 A sneak peek at the fun and games team-building craziness in our remote work office
📱 Curated links to send to the people in your team—whether they’re officemates or classmates!
👋 Joining us in redesigning the future of skills education
When we started Eskwelabs back in 2019 and up to the early months of 2020, we were literally a small team of dreamers and doers. We had less than 10 people on the team running the bootcamps, providing the Education Experience, and building the community of lifelong learners we now call our “Eskweloves.” Fast-forward to July 2021 and so much has changed: We’ve gone fully remote, and we’re about to triple our team size!
We're looking for individuals who not only resonate with our mission of democratizing the future of work through data skills education, but also can propose, strategize, and execute actual plans for making this mission a reality.
Apply now for one of these open positions:
Communities & Growth Team | Growth Marketing Lead, Design Intern
Education Team | Bootcamp Instructor (Part-time), Data science Mentor (Part-time), Data analytics Mentor (Part-time)
Tech Team | React Developer, Data Engineer
🙌 Getting to know the Eskwelabs team
Since our last newsletter issue two weeks ago, we had two new team members join the team! We welcomed Juvien Galano as our Partnerships Manager and Mel Arguelles as our Content Associate. They’re currently going through several Onboarding activities, and we’re cheering for them as they catch up on what ingredients make up a thriving startup life and what are the milestones we’re thankful for since starting.
Speaking of milestones, here are 2 blog posts from former Eskwelabs interns:
📚 Intern Insights - Jayson's Eskwelabs Experience (Education team)
🌐 Intern Insights - Lance’s Eskwelabs Experience (Tech team)
Our Intern Hall of Fame is a continuously growing list, but we have yet to publish a blog post from one of our Communities team interns. You can stay tuned for that blog post in the coming weeks as our Events intern, Trisha, wraps up her Eskwelabs journey. 🤗
We have one intern opening right now in the Communities team, apply now for the Design Intern position!
✌️ Getting team-building inspiration
From what we’ve gathered from our blog post data, our A to Zoom - 26 activities for your "Work from Home" team listicle seems to be a crowd favorite. Here’s a sneak peek of the serious (yet fun!) work and play dynamic in Eskwelabs’ virtual office space.
Activities we’ve done from our “A to Zoom” list are:
B - Who is that Baby? game
L - Lunch and Learn
M - Live Meditation
W - Wisdom from above
Y - Yesss!
Z - Zoomba
