E is for Eskwelabs - Our theme for October 2022 is Crossroads 🤔
The weather is colder in the Philippines, there have been more typhoons. Halloween spooky season is approaching, but there are bigger fears we must overcome.
October’s theme is "Crossroads." 🤔 We begin a new quarter and grow ever closer to the end of the year. There are mixed feelings going all around. Feelings of hope and gratitude as people are amazed at making it this far into the year. Feelings of worry and sadness as others have lost loved ones along the way, received worrisome medical news, broke off relationships, or lost their jobs. Feelings of fear and uncertainty—a consequence of the colder weather and gloomier skies. Facing a crossroads, the next step you take at the start of this fourth quarter may be a scary one, but we want you to know that we are with you!
We hope that October’s newsletter issues will serve as a warm hug in your email inbox. This is a month where we highlight the human—our mentors, what makes social learning so meaningful, and why we don’t want learners to fear being lonely in their journeys. October always ends with Halloween, aka spooky season, but there are different kinds of fears we must overcome and we hope that the advice we sprinkle throughout the month will strengthen your heart, dear Eskweloves. ❤️
Some questions we’ll answer throughout the month via our social media posts, blog posts, and in this E is for Eskwelabs newsletter:
What are the levels of listening?
What does it take to be an Eskwelabs Mentor? And what happened during our Alumni Mentors Pool Orientation event?
What is decision fatigue? How do we overcome it?
How do we make learning a social activity?
What do students fear? How does learning about the three types of empathy help educators care for the learners’ experience?
We hope that the content this month makes you feel warm and cozy. May you enjoy reading what we have prepared for you and may all that we share contribute to your personal and professional growth! 🤗
🎶 Song of the month 🎶
Another State by Tigers in the Sky
“I don't wanna waste no more time
Living out someone else's life
I just wanna take back what's mine
My heart's been longing for life
I wanna tip-toe across the open unknown
Where golden sun meets white snow”
We hope this “theme reveal” email excites you for the rest of the month. See you later this month for Issue 61 and Issue 62!
